Language teaching
A language under the glass.
To learn a foreign language is, necessarily, to learn new sounds, forms, and rules. Above all it is to learn a new expression of being human, a new view of the world, a new way of living. One comes to see how a different perspective shines through the current of sentences, shaped by a harder and crueller world; to feel, in a sound system, the inspiration that moved a poet; to recognise, in forms that seem rigid, the order that shaped whole civilisations.
In person and online (the technology is taken care of) I teach courses, individual hours, and sequences of lessons in the classical languages: Latin, Ancient Greek, and Sanskrit. I also teach English and Slovenian.
Alongside the language we can turn to particular aspects of classical culture, literature, and history, which the lessons open as we go. I also teach in cooperation with eTutee and the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ljubljana.
