The study of a language cannot stay at grammar and translation. We go further down — into footprints through time, into the moments of history that let a modern person look over the world from the shoulders of giants. We find the patterns and rules of our own lives with the help of lives already gone. We equip ourselves with a thousand years of experience.

I give specialist and public lectures on languages, culture, history, civilisation, and the literary life of antiquity, with an emphasis on the western tradition.
